Affordable Everyday Makeup Routine

Summer is almost over. Honestly it feel like it just began! With school on its way I wanted to do some back to school posts…but…I couldn’t really think of anything unique to post. I’ve been cleaning and re-organizing my room lately, today I was going through my makeup and separating it into two bins, the first bin was makeup I use everyday and the second was makeup I don’t use everyday. I remembered I had planned to do a everyday makeup routine post months before but never got around to actually writing it. This inspired me to write todays post.

For school I have always preferred a more natural look because 1. It’s high school not a red carpet event, there’s to need for me to go full glam (This is obviously my preference, you do you <3) and 2. It takes barely any time (This is nice for those of us who aren’t very good at getting up on time).

You can really tell how much I use these products by looking at all those fingerprints!

I’m not very picky when it comes to primers, as long as it fills in the worst of my pores it’s good enough for me. Maybelline’s Master Prime does just what I want without the price tag.

My combination skin doesn’t seem to like matte or dewy foundations. My solution? Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte Foundation paired with 1-2 drops of the Physicians Formula Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil. The matte foundation keeps me from looking oily while the Argan oil provides dewy-looking moisture.

The Maybelline Master Conceal Concealer is undeniably my all time favorite concealer. A pea-sized amount is all you need of this product to perfectly conceal any imperfections on your entire face. This is the only concealer I have every tried that will last me almost an entire year per bottle.

In a powder I look for something that will 1. Last all day without making my skin appear dry, 2. Work fast so I don’t have to wait 15 minutes for it to “bake”, and 3. Brighten up my under eyes. The Coty Airspun Loose Powder does all of that! My only complaint is it can make my skin feel a little dry throughout the day but other than that, for the price this powder is a 9/10 for me!

I never really started filling in my brows until last winter and I’ve only used one product since, The Maybelline Brow Drama Palette. I don’t have much experience with brow products since I have only used one but it has lasted me quite a long time without hitting pan. I do plan in trying the L’Oréal Paris Brow Definer Pencil because I’ve heard many great reviews on this pencil and some people even compare it to the Anastasia BH Brow Wiz which is supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to brow pencils.

My all time favorite drugstore mascaras have to be L’Oréal’s Lash Paradise Mascara and their Voluminous Mascara. If I had to pick one it would have to be the Voluminous Mascara, personally I prefer the brush and I find I get just the right amount of product on my lashes every time I apply it. My only complaint is the “waterproof” version isn’t very waterproof. Both are great mascaras and I’d recommend either one to a friend.

In the past month or two, I have really loved wearing winged eyeliner. I have never purchased a liquid eyeliner myself, the 3 I do own are all from my beloved ipsy bags. I do not have one to recommend as of all the liners I have received, I do not love any of them as much as I want to. I plan on trying out L’Oréal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner so I’ll update you guys on how that works out.

Something I’ve noticed when it comes to Canadian drugstores is that they have a very limited selection of highlighter, in fact the Elf Baked Highlighter was the only highlighter in the store! I do like the highlight and there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it. With that said I personally do not feel like I have enough experience with different highlighters to give you an accurate full review on this one but I would recommend for you to try it as it is very inexpensive and if it doesn’t work out its not a enormous deal.

When it comes to bronzers I have also not tried very many though the one I have been using is the Elf Bronzer in Warm it is quite shimmery which isn’t my favorite as I prefer a matte bronzer and some of the shade aren’t as pigmented as the others. I haven’t yet gotten to trying out more bronzers but hopefully I will be able to update this post with a better recommendation in the future!

If anyone has any recommendations for drugstore products I should try out let me know in the comments what your favorites are! This was a shorter post but I’d still like to say thank you to anyone who is reading this, Every view is appreciated!

Ipsy Glam Bag: February 2017

Makeup is one of my absolute favorite hobbies. Though since I am a teen (which basically means I’m constantly broke) ipsy is a great affordable alternative to spending all of my savings at Sephora!

The Bag

This month the theme of the bag was ‘Much Love’. The featured bag was a blue jean fabric with neon orange detailing. This months bag was not quite suited for my preference but it was still very cute looking.

Marsk Mineral Eyeshadow

I received this eyeshadow  in the shade ‘You’re Toast’ which is a medium brown shade with a gold undertone. After swatching this shadow it seems have a fairly buildable pigment and isn’t too dramatic for everyday use.

Lord & Berry Eye Pencil

I prefer using pencil eyeliners for tightlining but this one seemed to irritate my eyes for a few minutes after application so, I’ve been using it to do some basic eyeliner as well as creating a smokey liner look. The product itself has great color payoff so you get the perfect opacity in just one swipe.

VENeffect Anti-Aging Lip Treatment

I always love getting new lip treatments from ipsy, though this sample stood out as being VERY small. No offence ipsy but what am I going to do with 3ml of lip product? The formula wasn’t overly impressive in any particular way either.  It is hard to believe that 10ml of this product retails for $85! This was definitely not my favorite product I have received.

Luxie Rosegold Blush Brush

I am absolutely in love with this blush brush! I prefer the shape of this brush over any of the common blush brush shapes. I rarely end up with too much blush on this brush and it blends like a charm!

Briogeo Heat Protectant Creme

This product made make hair shiny and soft after flat ironing my hair. My hair did not feel dried out the next day instead it felt quite moisturized and smooth. Something about the scent of this product has got me addicted. Will definitely repurchase!

Ipsy October Glam Bag Review

For the past year I have been an ipsy subscriber. So far I’ve been loving it. For anyone who doesn’t know what ipsy is, it’s a $10 monthly subscription bag filled with 5 different beauty products. Each month there is a new theme and bag. This months theme was ‘Black Magic’. You can find out more about ipsy on their website:

Glam Bag & Theme: This months bag was totally my style! The Halloween themed pattern was absolutely adorable especially with the light pink background. Overall the theme was extremely appropriate for this time of year and the bag was beautiful as always!

Ciaté London Liquid Eyeliner: This eyeliner was super easy to use. I rarely wear eyeliner which means I don’t have muck skill or experience with the product but I found using this liner was a breeze!  I had very little transfer and no problem getting the right shade of black every time.

The Balm Hot Mama Shadow/Blush: The Balm shadows are always very common in ipsy bags so its not surprising to see one in my bag. I must say that I have been sent a lot of products with practically the same pinky-gold color as this one. Although I do frequently use that color I think by now I have probably got over a years supply of this shadow.

Preventive Measures After Hours Lip Balm: This balm is the bomb! I used this lip balm just before bed and woke up with some super hydrated and soft lips. I can’t wait to use this with my favorite lip scrub all winter long.

Noyah Natural Lipstick: I received ‘Current news’ which is a gorgeous deep berry shade that would be perfect for a fun Halloween makeup look. This lipstick does not dry out your lips, instead it stays creamy, lightweight and is even said to hydrate with Shea butter and Vitamin E. All around this natural lipstick is the best yet!

Elizabeth Grant Green Power C Hydrating Cleanser: This vitamin C infused cleanser left my skin feeling clean and fairly hydrated. It wasn’t the most amazing cleanser I’ve ever used but it sure got the job done well. This product has a very nice rich formula that you only need to use a small amount of to lather and clean the face.

That’s everything I got in my glam bag this month. I would rate the bag about a 7/10, I loved the variety of products I got but there were a couple things that could have been better (ex. Shadow color) but as always I loved my bag. Also remember to check out ipsy using the link at the top of this post. Thanks!
