Affordable Everyday Makeup Routine

Summer is almost over. Honestly it feel like it just began! With school on its way I wanted to do some back to school posts…but…I couldn’t really think of anything unique to post. I’ve been cleaning and re-organizing my room lately, today I was going through my makeup and separating it into two bins, the first bin was makeup I use everyday and the second was makeup I don’t use everyday. I remembered I had planned to do a everyday makeup routine post months before but never got around to actually writing it. This inspired me to write todays post.

For school I have always preferred a more natural look because 1. It’s high school not a red carpet event, there’s to need for me to go full glam (This is obviously my preference, you do you <3) and 2. It takes barely any time (This is nice for those of us who aren’t very good at getting up on time).

You can really tell how much I use these products by looking at all those fingerprints!

I’m not very picky when it comes to primers, as long as it fills in the worst of my pores it’s good enough for me. Maybelline’s Master Prime does just what I want without the price tag.

My combination skin doesn’t seem to like matte or dewy foundations. My solution? Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte Foundation paired with 1-2 drops of the Physicians Formula Ultra Nourishing Argan Oil. The matte foundation keeps me from looking oily while the Argan oil provides dewy-looking moisture.

The Maybelline Master Conceal Concealer is undeniably my all time favorite concealer. A pea-sized amount is all you need of this product to perfectly conceal any imperfections on your entire face. This is the only concealer I have every tried that will last me almost an entire year per bottle.

In a powder I look for something that will 1. Last all day without making my skin appear dry, 2. Work fast so I don’t have to wait 15 minutes for it to “bake”, and 3. Brighten up my under eyes. The Coty Airspun Loose Powder does all of that! My only complaint is it can make my skin feel a little dry throughout the day but other than that, for the price this powder is a 9/10 for me!

I never really started filling in my brows until last winter and I’ve only used one product since, The Maybelline Brow Drama Palette. I don’t have much experience with brow products since I have only used one but it has lasted me quite a long time without hitting pan. I do plan in trying the L’Oréal Paris Brow Definer Pencil because I’ve heard many great reviews on this pencil and some people even compare it to the Anastasia BH Brow Wiz which is supposed to be the best of the best when it comes to brow pencils.

My all time favorite drugstore mascaras have to be L’Oréal’s Lash Paradise Mascara and their Voluminous Mascara. If I had to pick one it would have to be the Voluminous Mascara, personally I prefer the brush and I find I get just the right amount of product on my lashes every time I apply it. My only complaint is the “waterproof” version isn’t very waterproof. Both are great mascaras and I’d recommend either one to a friend.

In the past month or two, I have really loved wearing winged eyeliner. I have never purchased a liquid eyeliner myself, the 3 I do own are all from my beloved ipsy bags. I do not have one to recommend as of all the liners I have received, I do not love any of them as much as I want to. I plan on trying out L’Oréal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Eyeliner so I’ll update you guys on how that works out.

Something I’ve noticed when it comes to Canadian drugstores is that they have a very limited selection of highlighter, in fact the Elf Baked Highlighter was the only highlighter in the store! I do like the highlight and there doesn’t seem to be anything wrong with it. With that said I personally do not feel like I have enough experience with different highlighters to give you an accurate full review on this one but I would recommend for you to try it as it is very inexpensive and if it doesn’t work out its not a enormous deal.

When it comes to bronzers I have also not tried very many though the one I have been using is the Elf Bronzer in Warm it is quite shimmery which isn’t my favorite as I prefer a matte bronzer and some of the shade aren’t as pigmented as the others. I haven’t yet gotten to trying out more bronzers but hopefully I will be able to update this post with a better recommendation in the future!

If anyone has any recommendations for drugstore products I should try out let me know in the comments what your favorites are! This was a shorter post but I’d still like to say thank you to anyone who is reading this, Every view is appreciated!

My Panic Problem

Today I felt like doing a more chatty post about something that I’ve experienced for a while now. Ever since I was somewhere around 10 years old I have had these, what I can only describe as, panic attack-like experiences. It normally happens when I’m stressed out, surrounded by (even just a little bit of) clutter, or if I’m in a specific place where, for whatever reason, I feel in danger.

If I’m stressed out it goes like this: I start by feeling like I have so much to do but no time to do it, which causes me to stress. Then suddenly, I can’t think, which stresses me even more. I continuously lose my train of thought and I feel like I’m losing control over my life, my brain, and even my body. My hands and feet go tense along with the rest of my muscles and I feel trapped within my own skin. I get extremely claustrophobic and feel like I’m stuck wherever I am and can’t get out. By then I’m normally on the floor with my knees against my chest and arms wrapped around my legs stretching and clenching my fingers and toes in effort to regain control over my body. I fear not having enough time to do whatever needs to be done. My heart races and I feel as if I can not breath. I’m nauseous, my breath is shaky and I’m probably crying from frustration. I basically panic.

This can last from 5-30 minutes. Sometimes there is something specific that triggers the feeling and other times there is no reason for it at all. I don’t know exactly what I’m experiencing or whether it is a panic attack or not. All I know is I’ve never felt that much fear at once. The feeling of losing that much control over yourself is remarkably scary.

I can also have a similar feeling in certain places. Stores in older buildings tend to be the type of place that really triggers this feeling. In this situation I typically feel, what I can only describe as, uncomfortable. All I can think about is getting out of that location. I feel trapped and in danger like someone is watching me or like somehow I’m going to get hurt or like something bad is going to happen. But most of all, I feel terribly nauseous and as if there is a giant lump in my throat. In this situation the panic is more controllable but just as intense a feeling.

I’d never really thought of this being a panic attack until a few days ago when I discovered an old Zoella video about her panic attacks and anxiety and found what she was describing as a panic attack to be VERY similar to what I have experienced for last 5 or 6 years of my life. I did a little research about panic attacks and so far everything I have found matches up with my “attacks”. I’m no professional therefore I can not diagnose myself but if anyone has had these symptoms or knows anything about panic attacks that may help me to find out what I’ve been experiencing, feel free to comment or email me ( Thanks for listening to my little chat/rant and good luck to any of my readers who are going back to school soon, I’m so not excited :/

Simple Study Tips

Whether your studying for a crucial final exam or for a math unit you don’t quite understand, we could all use some extra tips and tricks to help us to turn our ordinary grades into outstanding grades! I’ve compiled a list of things I do to help prepare myself for a tough test. Let me know if you have any strategies that help you to study and if any of mine may have helped you out.

1. Study right after school

You wake up, go to school, and take in that productive learning mood. Then, you go home, prepare some popcorn, and stream 3 hours of Ellen, This getting you out of that productive mood. After that it can be truly difficult to get back into the proper learning mood. Instead of heading straight to the TV try saving those 3 hours of Ellen for later and instead do 30 minutes to 1 hour of studying, it will be much less stressful.

2. Make a study plan

We’ve all been there, you forget about an important test and end up cramming in all the material at 3 AM the night before. My way of avoiding that irritating situation is to create a structured study plan. Simply use a weekly planner to plan out what you need to be studying for throughout the week. Make sure to start studying a week in advance, this will also help with the last minute cram session issue. You can find some gorgeous weekly planner printables here

3. Put an end to distractions

When studying you should always make sure that you have surrounded yourself with a proper study environment. Make sure to have a drink and nutritious snack by your side to keep you powering through the session. Keep away any possible distractions, such as your phone. Turn it on airplane mode and you wont have to worry about any pesky notifications keeping you from your work. You can also download applications for you computer or laptop to temporarily block websites such as YouTube or Twitter to stop any mid study browsing.

4. Rewrite, Rewrite, Rewrite

Anytime I am required to memorize large amounts of information Rewriting is always my go-to way of studying. You can surely do this whatever way you’d like to but personally I prefer to rewrite all of my notes, then turn those notes into jot notes, then (again) rewrite the key information. For classes such as French or Spanish using index cards to quiz yourself on your understanding of a word, sentence, or question seems to also work very well for me.

5. Test yourself

I find that giving myself a review test at the end of each study session can help me assess myself and find out what I need to focus more on studying. Finish off your study session by closing your notes and write up a short test for yourself to complete, then next session try focusing on the things you got incorrect  or struggled on remembering.

6. Take reasonable breaks

Make sure to take limited breaks throughout your study session. It’s important to give your brain a break so it can process the information it has been given. A quick 10 to 15 minute break can help you to re-focus and concentrate on what you are doing. Continue to avoid social medias and your phone while taking a break, we all know that 5 minute Instagram check will turn into a 30 minute Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, and Facebook check. Instead do something healthy such as going for a quick walk, tidying up your space, cooking a healthy meal, stretching or do some yoga, the options are truly endless!

Those are just the basics. If you’d like to hear some more let me know and i’ll be sure to do a follow up post on some more specific strategies that help me study.

My 2016 Holiday Playlist

It’s finally December, which means listening to holiday music is perfectly acceptable now! Though I’ve been jamming to Santa Baby since around mid August, now with Christmas décor covering all the walls and table tops of my house I’m surely getting in that much loved Christmas spirit. I created my playlist with a mix of old and new Christmas tunes, everything from Elvis to Ariana Grande. This Playlist is sure to keep any Christmas soul satisfied!

Ipsy October Glam Bag Review

For the past year I have been an ipsy subscriber. So far I’ve been loving it. For anyone who doesn’t know what ipsy is, it’s a $10 monthly subscription bag filled with 5 different beauty products. Each month there is a new theme and bag. This months theme was ‘Black Magic’. You can find out more about ipsy on their website:

Glam Bag & Theme: This months bag was totally my style! The Halloween themed pattern was absolutely adorable especially with the light pink background. Overall the theme was extremely appropriate for this time of year and the bag was beautiful as always!

Ciaté London Liquid Eyeliner: This eyeliner was super easy to use. I rarely wear eyeliner which means I don’t have muck skill or experience with the product but I found using this liner was a breeze!  I had very little transfer and no problem getting the right shade of black every time.

The Balm Hot Mama Shadow/Blush: The Balm shadows are always very common in ipsy bags so its not surprising to see one in my bag. I must say that I have been sent a lot of products with practically the same pinky-gold color as this one. Although I do frequently use that color I think by now I have probably got over a years supply of this shadow.

Preventive Measures After Hours Lip Balm: This balm is the bomb! I used this lip balm just before bed and woke up with some super hydrated and soft lips. I can’t wait to use this with my favorite lip scrub all winter long.

Noyah Natural Lipstick: I received ‘Current news’ which is a gorgeous deep berry shade that would be perfect for a fun Halloween makeup look. This lipstick does not dry out your lips, instead it stays creamy, lightweight and is even said to hydrate with Shea butter and Vitamin E. All around this natural lipstick is the best yet!

Elizabeth Grant Green Power C Hydrating Cleanser: This vitamin C infused cleanser left my skin feeling clean and fairly hydrated. It wasn’t the most amazing cleanser I’ve ever used but it sure got the job done well. This product has a very nice rich formula that you only need to use a small amount of to lather and clean the face.

That’s everything I got in my glam bag this month. I would rate the bag about a 7/10, I loved the variety of products I got but there were a couple things that could have been better (ex. Shadow color) but as always I loved my bag. Also remember to check out ipsy using the link at the top of this post. Thanks!

Intro To Me :)

You can find a lot about me in my ‘Welcome To My Site‘ page but I felt like an introduction to my life was necessary. I don’t have loads of friends but the ones I call my besties I know are always there for me when I need them the most. I’m practically obsessed with YouTube! My absolute favorites include ThatcherJoe, Zoella, Tyler Oakley, Kian and Jc, Dan and Phil, Tati, and many more. I’m a makeup and beauty lover who loves (mostly online) shopping, and never wastes a ounce of product. My favorite Friday night includes a warm cup of hot chocolate and a cozy blanket paired with the perfect Netflix series.

Hopefully you’ve learned a little bit about me from this. If you like to learn some more check out my more recent Get To Know Me Q&A post. Thanks for reading!
